WORDS OF WISDOM FROM DIFFERENT BOSSES OF MINE
THE SECRETS TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND HAPPY
These are some of the sayings, pieces of advice, or reminders that different mentors have shared with me and I have found useful at different points in my career:
1. “If you do not send people to hell half of the times I did, you will make four times as much money as I made.” Patience and compassion are diffictult but key virtues in business and personal life.
2. “Stay away from the spotlight, it fades your suit.” Cameras and fame add 500 pounds to your ego and takes your mind away from the important things.
3. “Listen twice as much as you speak”
4. “Tell them you care. Show them you care. Remind them you care.” People will trust leaders that care about them. If you treat people as a number, and you cannot get five minutes to talk about their family, career, heppiness, and growth, you will get no their loyalty or trust.
5. “It’s all about the people.” Technology is about people, team is about people, leadership is about people. Ultimately, everything is with and for the people. The price, when you forget that your people skills are more important than your technical skills, is very high.
6. “Work harder and smarter than your competitor.” No battle is won, and the victory is significantly maintained over time, without effort. Shortcuts and circumstances are important but hard work and wisdom allow you to stand up over and over again.
7. “Have fun!” If you really love and have fun at what you do, you will find you are getting paid to have fun!
